Numeric Domain Name suddenly Means Something

988 now means something, and an alert end user just bought 988.org at Sedo.

When do three seemingly random numbers establish meaning?

This summer, the Federal Communications Commission designated 988 as a three-digit phone number for a national suicide hotline. (It won’t go into effect until July 2022.) A mental health organization in New York smartly acquired the domain name 988.org through Sedo this past week for only $3,600.*

Just.me $50,000 – Netfire GmbH is an IT company that has developed many types of software. This might be for one of its own projects or a client.

Brilliant.net $27,500 – Brilliant is a site that helps people build quantitative skills in math, science and computer science. It forwards the domain to its website at Brilliant.org.

HomestylesFurniture.com $12,000 – Furniture company Flexsteel bought this domain for its Homestyles furniture brand.

OneFor.com $10,000 – One For is a payments service for people in the EU to make remittances to people back home.

Freemans.co.uk £7,000 – The domain now forwards to Freemans.com, a website for a department store that sells clothing, accessories, home goods and more.

DSG.ch EUR 7,000- The domain forwards to DatenSchutzGuide.net, a website offering a free webinar about Switzerland’s data protection act. Daten Schutz translates to “data protection”.

Eddyson.com $6,500 – Eddyson,  a German technology company that provides an online business commerce network for data interchanges, connections, interactions and cooperation between business partners in real-time. It forwards the domain to its website at Eddyson.de.

iimed.com $5,399 – iiMED Medical Manufacturing Solutions bought this domain. It’s a medical device manufacturing company in Western New York that provides services in FDA compliance, logistics, import/export management, procurement, process development, light assembly, converting, packaging, warehousing and distribution.

WebUpgrade.com EUR 5,000- WebUpgrade is a digital solutions company focused on medical website management including SEO, treatment information, digital advertising and other custom solutions.

SCServices.com $5,000 – Signature Corporate Services bought this domain. It is a vendor management service for providing short-term housing fulfillment and relocation services for corporate clients. It uses the domain name SignatureCS.net.

988.org $3,600 – Hamaspik of Kings County, NY bought this domain. It’s a non-profit human services agency that provides customized, person-centered services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families through Medicaid. 988 is a newly-approved phone number (like 911) that will connect people to mental health counselors.

Futbolia.com EUR 3,000- An online information and news site for international football-related news.

Tepeyac.com $2,500 – Singerman Entertainment, an artist management agency with offices in Los Angeles and Toronto, bought this domain. Tepeyac might be a new artist.

SmartInject.com $2,500 – Bracco Diagnostics, Inc. bought this domain. It’s an Italian multinational company within the healthcare sector. Its products include injectors.

BullsEye360.com $2,355 – Electric Vine, Inc., an internet marketing service in Branchburg Township, New Jersey, bought this domain.

Pianetabimbi.it EUR 2,300 – Forwards to GravidanzaOnline.it, an Italian baby products brand.

Rouje.fr EUR 2,000 – Rouge, a French beauty and clothing brand, bought this domain and forwards it to Rouge.com.
